Manufactured 200 ballast hopper cars by modifying the original grain hopper cars (the body, braking system, and others were brand new, except the bogies) in response to the Su-hua Highway Improvement Project on a TRA contract in 2012.
They were built to transport stone materials with a loading capacity of 30t. Hoppers on both sides can be opened manually. All hopper cars are equipped with the Nabtesco CD braking system.
This ballast hopper car is mainly used to transport stone materials along the Yilan and North Link Line. Cement works rented the car from TRA.
